The present Moat House in Pound Lane incorporates the only surviving structure from the original Manor House which once occupied this 2 acre site. The house fell into disrepair in the 17th century, and in the 20th century what remained of the moat was filled in.

In 1972 the remnants of building that remained were cleverly incorporated into the house that presently is The Moat House, ensuring that its original historic structure is protected for the foreseeable future.
