Gigaclear brings full fibre broadband to Martock

Work currently taking place in Martock to connect homes and businesses to ultrafast broadband is set to be a ’game-changer’ for the village – according to the UK’s leading rural, full-fibre broadband provider, Gigaclear.

Gigaclear is expanding its network on a commercial basis to underserved market towns and communities in Somerset, where internet speeds are still extremely poor.

Gigaclear’s full-fibre upgrade is bringing speeds of up to 900Mbps to 600 homes and business premises in Martock. With this speed, it takes just four seconds to download a film in its entirety.

Where possible, Gigaclear is using existing Openreach ducts and poles to minimise disruption during the build phase.

Martock residents and others travelling through the village will be well aware of recent roadworks that have been in place to connect homes throughout Martock.

The expansion of Gigaclear’s network build to Martock is expected to be completed by early 2023. The company has frozen its full-fibre broadband rates for 18 months, meaning both new and existing customers will not see a rise in prices until October 2023 at the earliest.
