David Sutcliffe on Cecil Sharp, early 20th century collector of native folk songs and dances that were fast disappearing. He toured the country including Martock and discovered some new songs, especially from Walter Locock of Water Street. David has published a book on the subject and runs a website www.cecilsharpspeople.org.uk with songs and dances so far discovered.
Doors open at 7.00pm for a start at 7.30pm prompt.
An annual membership of £10 gives free access to all talks. For non members a fee of £3 is payable per meeting.
