Hinton Mill, Mudford, BA22 8BA. A 1780s barn was converted to a watermill by the construction of a mile long tunnel through shale, under two roads and the farmhouse. This was engineered in 1800 by William Smith, who published the first geological map of Britain in 1815.
Stephen Bartlett farms there today and has restored the 1892 Armfield turbine to working order and will show us round. There is also a farm shop on site.
