“I fear there will be blood spilt tonight” the 1831 Yeovil Reform Riot

Steve Poole will discuss the agitation caused by the House of Lords throwing out the Reform Bill that was long overdue and which promised an end to low wages and harsh working conditions. Long resentment finally exploded in Yeovil.

Steve Poole is Professor of History and Heritage at UWE and Director of the University’s Regional History Centre.
