Dan O’Donoghue will give a talk on Early Irish culture. From Tombs to Necklaces.
A light hearted non academic discussion of who the early Irish people were 3000 years ago and why they built massive tombs and wore expensive gold necklaces.
Examples from Newgrange, Knowth and the Museum of Ireland.
and a thought on why the Romans stayed away.
Anvil is a discussion group held in Martock. We discuss serious, sometimes controversial issues of current importance. We aim to be intellectually stimulating and relevant to important issues rather than just entertaining.
We aim for understanding and education in its broadest sense, rather than just social interaction. The format consists of a talk during the first period, followed by a short refreshment break, then a discussion period where the audience can question the speaker and express their own views.
Entrance is £3.00 at the door.
